Renovating the studio – part 12

The word of the day is “scudding” (archive) a building – a technique of throwing sand/cement mix at a wall to provide a keying surface for the scratch coat.

The door has been offered up to the opening, and aligned. Window will get collected today, and then we’re on to scratch coat, and maybe some rendering work. Roofing ply needs to be replaced, but delivery of the skylight won’t happen until Monday, delaying the process.

The slab in front of the door will need to be cut down an inch or three to allow a new step to be built; can’t do thin cement/concrete as it’ll crack.
