Progress of sorts. Kitchen wet wall has been stripped back to the bare concrete blocks. It looks like the plaster and insulation might have been resting directly on soil instead of on a waterproof base – will be confirming that today with the builder. A bit of archaeology says that I’ve got an engineered wood floor, a concrete floor, and 2 different tile floors, and the waterproofing membrane under the wood/concrete floor wasn’t extended to behind the wall covering layers…
A new pile appears! They had trouble with the Saniflow… Stripped back wall; no scratch coat The old vent slot, and starting to drill for a new electro-mechanical vent More of the kitchen wall A backbox from in the kitchen Totally rusty backbox Some of the plasterboard paper The gap between the wall and the flooring Looks like damp earth down there
The stripping of the ensuite has started too, with discoveries of copper pipes that have been squished, mould all behind the toilet, and signs that the Saniflow was on the way out.
The old Saniflow. Pretty sure the Saniflow shouldn’t be this black The old shower door, next to the boxed flue Behind the Saniflow/toilet Starting the demolition The copper pipe is squished No or little grout between the tiles, so not sealed Walls drying Wall drying with scratch coat, pipes getting removed
