The locals in Germany seem very fond of fireworks. As 2019 was rung in, fireworks were going off across Höchst all through the hours leading up to midnight. From ~2345 until ~0045, I felt sorry for any dogs, or people who have PTSD that can be triggered by loud noises – it was an absolute riot of bangs, “wheeeeee”s and other assorted firework sounds.
So many fireworks were let off that we had to close all the apartment windows, and the air outside was smoky enough that you couldn’t see nearby buildings.
A rough guess is that tens of thousands of Euro worth of small explosives were set off, just in this area.
