Flirtations with a flash

Many, many moons ago I picked up a set of Pocket Wizard Plus Xs (archive) and a pair of LumoPro LP180s (archive) to complement the Nikon SB80 that I already owned. David “Strobist” Hobby (archive) had been quite enthusiastic about this hardware, and at the time I thought I might be going more into my photography hobby. I’m fairly sure I acquired them on a trip to California, probably from Midwest Photo.

Anyway, I’ve had a set of dead and desiccated flowers sitting in a vase for months, and I finally got around to “you know, I should do something about these flowers”. That something was a strobe photo shoot before finally casting the flowers into the compost bin.
