While chatting on EVE Online last night, I realised that I own 3 cellphones, and have 5 UK-based telephone numbers and 2 US-based telephone numbers.
Wasn’t someone muttering about ‘one number for life’ a few years ago? I could certainly use it!
Oh, and one of those cellphones actually plays music. I must be moving into the modern century.

I think the appropriate word for this is: “Yeesh!”
Is there some reason you have so many phones and phone numbers, or is it feasible to consolidate?

One US number is an alias to a UK Vonage number.
The other US number is a Cingular pay-as-you-go SIM card.
One UK number is my primary landline - it powers the DSL and can’t go.
The next is a sipgate account - VoIP.
The next is a mobile number - currently my primary mobile number, moving to pay-go.
The next is a mobile number - will become my primary mobile number.
The next is a FWD number, VoIP only.
The next is a VoIP number via my ISP.
The next is the Vonage UK number.
I think I’ve missed one or two of the UK numbers. The end-game is to consolidate all of the numbers into an Asterisk PBX, complete with TDM card and possibly even cellular links. That way all numbers ring into the PBX, and it executes a ‘Where is he?’ function to determine what number to feed the call to (internal handset or mobile). Some day.
